Combined Orthodontics

In the majority of cases, we can effectively treat orthodontic problems solely with orthodontic appliances – but in more severe cases, we may need to combine traditional orthodontics with surgical procedures.

During early orthodontic treatment, we can use customised appliances to influence the growth of the jaws and teeth. At times though, even with interceptive treatment, the jaws don't line up correctly when they finish developing. In these cases, orthodontic treatment alone isn't enough, and surgery is needed.

Generally, we use braces to straighten your teeth for anywhere between 8 and 18 months prior to your surgery. Once the teeth are properly aligned, we'll perform the surgery. It will take about two weeks of downtime to recover from your surgery.
