To become an orthodontist

To become an orthodontist, one has to firstly be a dentist.

To become a dentist, one has to follow a 5 year dentistry study at university.

Thereafter, one follows a specialist study, also at university. This is an extra fulltime, 4 year study.

Orthodontists therefore, have studied for at least 9 years and have at least 2 university degrees.

An orthodontist doesn’t only have a lot of knowledge and experience in treatment with braces or removable devices, but also have a very broad knowledge of general dentistry.
